The journey is the destination.

Is there a decline in what it means to be a ‘Martial Artist’, rather than just train in the martial arts?

Traditional philosophies in the martial arts have been watered down, and have become difficult to practice due to changes in society.
.
We don’t the have the time, the attitudes, the common interest, or patience, and…… everyone is staring into their phone.

Japanese martial arts are understood to derive from the spiritual developments based on Zen Buddhism. Even though many forms of Japanese martial arts were developed for self-defense, it was never just about the punching and kicking. For centuries martial arts have been seen as a way for self-expression and a method to achieve the highest self….. physically, mentally, and spiritually.

“Budo helps us realize that the source of human weakness is internal, not external. Hence, the journey must be inward, not outward. That is where the real enemy lies, and, it is there that all battles must be first fought and won.” – Patrick McCarthy 9th dan Koryu Uchinadi

.
But the truth is, we all eventually walk the same path as human beings on this planet, ultimately heading to the same destination. However, we may walk the same path in the end, but we all have different shoes.
.
Every step of your journey you can embrace, recognizing each stumble or setback as an opportunity to strengthen your character, finesse your craft, and deepen your passion.
.
The true meaning behind the martial arts is less about fighting and more about developing yourself to your ultimate potential. The philosophies and practices that drive the martial artist are lifelong….. and students who practice to become martial artists, benefit from all that makes the martial arts the discipline it is.
.
The journey is the destination. 👊🥋
